Why a Grant Doesn't Tell You Which Energy Contract Is Best
A premium doesn't determine which energy contract is most advantageous after the investment. Solar panels completely change your usage profile — less daytime draw, possibly feed-in on surplus — and that also changes which contract type (fixed, variable, or dynamic) and which supplier still fits you best.
Comparing Contracts After Installation: What You'll Need
A contract that was advantageous before your investment isn't necessarily still advantageous afterward — especially with a dynamic contract, where feed-in is settled against the current spot price, the difference can be significant. So recalculate using your usage from after the investment.
Once your new installation (solar panels, battery, heat pump) has been running for a while, a fresh export of your quarter-hourly usage data gives the real, updated usage profile — the basis for a comparison that accounts for your new situation, not the old one. If you're a Fluvius customer (Flanders), that export comes via Mijn Fluvius; outside Flanders, your own grid operator (Sibelga in Brussels, ORES/RESA in Wallonia) offers the equivalent.
